Sisters Gracie and Juliette Bennett, once the best of friends, have grown apart over the years, each following her own life’s path. But with the passing of their beloved grandmother Mimi their paths intertwine in the most unexpected and peculiar way.
Gracie and Juliette are set to inherit Mimi’s house–the charming Santa Barbara Craftsman, a family heirloom three generations old. But there’s a catch. In order to inherit their home away from home the sisters must live at 1402 Laguna Lane for one year…together.
Now under one roof, Gracie and Juliette have a chance to reexamine their relationship and confront their pasts. Over the course of the trying year ahead they will learn that Mimi’s clever plan is about more than preserving a piece of family history.
But will they overcome their differences, perhaps even become the kinds of friends only sisters can be? Loyalties will be tested and secrets revealed. And in their darkest hours Gracie and Juliette will have to decide if a sister’s love is what they need to get through the year. If a unique friendship between sisters is what they’ve needed all along.

A Sister’s Place is one of those stories that may take you a chapter or two to really get into the flow, the meat of the story – but once there the build up was definitely worth the wait.
Two sisters, Grace and Juliette, once were as close as sisters could be. But time, decisions and circumstances have widen the gulf between them that they now seem more like strangers. Their beloved grandmother has watched the space widening between them and was unable to bring them back to where they needed to be during her life. But a loving grandmother has her ways, and in death she has given them a second chance – if they use it wisely. They inherit Mimi’s home, a place of love and family together. The catch is they must live in the house, together, for one year before any decision to keep it together, one sister keep the home or sell it outright. It sounds like an easy enough plan for your average sisters – but not for these two. It will take a grandmother’s love, her wise words for each season and some major understanding, lowering of walls for Juliette and Grace to discover the true treasure in their grandmother’s house – love for each other once again.
A Sister’s Place will take you on a journey of pain, anger, sadness, tensions and disappointments – all things that every family goes through at some point, perhaps not to the extent of Grace and Juliette. It will also take you along on their discovery of very different emotions – liking, acceptance, forgiveness, understanding and perhaps back to the unique love that only sisters will truly appreciate.
This year full of Mimi’s letters for each season, the forced time spent together and the basic love that was always there beneath the surface will touch the heart of any reader. Life happens, we all know that. Decisions are often ones we’d take right back if we could, but we can’t. This story brings to life the journey back to family, the emotions involved and perhaps a bit of wise words for us to take away from the experience. I would recommend A Sister’s Place for any reader. This is a love story – between sisters as they find their way back to that closeness they once knew. Definitely a story to touch your heart and your mind.
